GBC in South Korea: Seoul Lantern Festival with SNU Buddy

On the 20th November Ligaya and I met SNU Buddy Group 1 at Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5) walk around the latern festival called 서울빛초롱축제. This event was planned by Hojae, who did a good job.

However, it was not a typical festival, since there were not any booths selling food. There was a long river in the middle and on each side people were walking. Huge lantern were place on the river. Those lantern were 2 to 3 meters high.

Brief description of the festival.

We walked from the Gwanghwamun Station to the entrance of the festival and walked one side down the river and went partly back from the other side. At the beginning of our walk. everyone tried to flip a coin into a metal bowl, which was place on the river. Ligaya tossed her coin into the bowl and according to a Korean saying, she had luck in her life.

After a while, we even drank a little bit of Makgeolli. It was fun looking at all the different lanterns.I took a lot of picture of the festival, which you can see as followed.
